The course teaches the popular the Yang Style Tai Chi Simplified 24 Hand Form which was compiled in 1956 for the Chinese Sports Commission in 1956 by several leading Tai Chi masters including Professor Li Tian Ji and Fu Zhongwen with the goal of standardizing and popularizing Tai Chi Chuan for schools, hospitals and competitions. Rooted in Tao philosophy, health and self-defence, the Simplified 24 Hand Form is a great low impact exercise for improving the flow of energy throughout the mind, body and spirit, leading to an overall sense of calm and well being. The Simplified 24 Hand Form has become the most popular of all Chinese martial arts, loved by millions of practitioners around the world, and is now an internationally recognised health meditation exercise. Because this sequence is based on Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan, the training guidelines and principles of the Simplified 24 Form follow the characteristic flavour of the Yang style as described in the Ten Essential Points of Yang Chengfu.

Yang Style Tai Chi Simplified 24 Hand Form is a healing martial art that combines martial arts movements with energy (qi or chi) circulation, breathing, and stretching techniques. It utilizes the ancient philosophy of yin and yang and the five element theories, for its foundation and to establish its training principles. The training of taijiquan includes the integration of mind, qi, and body. The focus on qi circulation was initially used for the purpose of increasing the internal strength of the physical body for combat. The same techniques that were capable of developing internal power for combat also proved to be effective as life-prolonging, healing, and rejuvenating exercises. These health benefits are the primary contributions that led to today’s popularity of the Simplified 24 Form.

Tai Chi is a relaxing and natural form of exercise and moving meditation that can prevent and ease many diseases and ills of aging, and could be the perfect exercise for the rest of your life. These Private Retreats are designed to help you study and practice the internal healing art of Tai Chi Chuan which was originally created in a monastery by Taoist monks as a spiritual practice for health and self-defence. In perfecting these arts you develop your relationship with universal energy and the Tao, and in so doing begin to perfect yourself as a human being, healing your anger, greed, hatred and worry, perfecting yourself on all levels. This is not just in the classroom, but also making gradual changes that begin to have positive effects on your health, personality and lifestyle, developing loving kindness, wisdom and compassion. This is the deeper wisdom of Tai Chi as a spiritual practice and the ultimate goal of spiritual enlightenment. This is the way of the Tai Chi Warrior.


Course Information


We specialize in Private Courses on the dates you come to Bali. You can have 1 or 2 people for this price, but you need to bring your own friend/partner to accompany you. Training takes place at the Tai Chi Bali Healing Arts Centre next to The Caz Bali Hotel in Desa Bengkel, South Tabanan.

We have a large shaded area for Tai Chi & Qigong training and a large 2nd floor sun lounge for sunrise and sunset practice. All courses take place from Monday to Friday and must be completed within the specified number of days/weeks.

All courses are 1-to-1 with British instructor Dave West, and consist of 5 hours per day. Due to the tropical heat we only practice 3 hours in the morning 9am-12 and 2 hours at sunset 4-6pm. No classes on Saturday and Sunday, which gives you time to rest and enjoy our Balinese culture and lifestyle.


Transport, accommodation and meals are not included in the price. Please make your own arrangements according to your budget. The Caz Bali is the closest hotel, just 2 minutes walk to the Tai Chi Bali Centre.

There are also several mid-range hotels in Kedungu, Tanah Lot and Yeh Gangga areas of South Tabanan, with prices ranging from USD 30 to USD 200 per night including breakfast, and a few budget hotels and homestay rooms from USD 15 to USD 30 per night with long stay discounts. Meals are generally inexpensive depending on local or western restaurants.

* Your booking is confirmed as soon as we receive your payment.
* Tai Chi Bali strongly advise that you obtain full visitor information from your Indonesian Consulate before departure from your country of residence regarding your stay in Indonesia, i.e. travel warnings, travel documents, tourist visa, length of stay, vaccinations, etc.
* Tai Chi Bali strongly advise that you purchase adequate travel/medical insurance before departure from your country of residence.
